Meet the faces behind BizCom! We’re profiling all of our team members at the agency.
Meet Melissa Rubin! Melissa, originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a graduate of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. She has been working at BizCom for the past three years as Vice President.
Why did you choose PR?I moved to New York City right after college and I started freelancing for a few magazines. I thought that was the career path I was going to take, but I was offered a full time position in the PR department of a large advertising agency and I decided to take it. My first client was Sam Adams beer. I loved how each day was different, the writing I was doing and the thrill of landing a big media placement. I ended up staying on the PR track and have done PR for a whole range of clients over the past 16 years.
Best part of working at BizCom? The people! We have a very happy and hardworking team. The agency lunches, athleisure days, work from home Fridays, afternoon team walks are all a bonus!
I’m happiest when… I’m with my family and experiencing something new with my two kids.
Best part of living in Dallas:As new Texans, there is so much for us to do and explore and I love the awesome mild weather. Moving from the Northeast, it’s heavenly to have a 70-degree day in February!

Other interesting facts about Melissa:
The summer before my senior year of high school, I spent six weeks living in a village in Honduras building latrines and ovens for the community. It was a challenging and eye opening experience.
I did Semester at Sea during my sophomore year of college. My best friend and I shared a cabin for four months and traveled around the world stopping at 11 countries. It was the most incredible experience learning about a country while in class at sea, and then docking in that country, getting off the ship and exploring. I feel fortunate to have visited the Taj Mahal, Great Wall of China, the Serengeti, and many more incredible places during that time.
