We have raved about the power of podcasts before here at BizCom, and this week’s big client news just proves our point!
Our client Tariq Farid, Founder and CEO of Edible Arrangements, recently shared his story with NPR’s Guy Raz on the latest episode of “How I Built This.”
How I Built This, currently the 2nd most popular business podcast on iTunes, features entrepreneurs, innovators, and businesspeople who have taken their companies to the next level, and often tackled incredible odds along the way. In addition to being an award-winning journalist, Guy recently became the first person in the history of podcasting to have three shows in the top 20 on the Apple Podcast charts.
Tariq sat down with Guy to share how he grew Edible Arrangements from a tiny flower shop in Connecticut to a multi-million dollar global empire that is now the world’s largest fruit bouquet provider. After immigrating to the United States from Pakistan at the age of 12, Tariq worked several jobs throughout school, including at a local flower shop. After buying his own shop at the age of 17 with a small loan, Tariq slowly grew it to other shops, before coming up with a million-dollar idea — edible arrangements created from fruit.
While Tariq’s vision now includes more than 1300 Edible Arrangements locations around the world, the road to success wasn’t easy. On his first day of business, Tariq recalls accidentally freezing his entire stock of fresh flowers just a few days before Easter!
Tariq shared many other important lessons with Guy, but they all ultimately led to an incredibly successful business known around the world today. We look forward to booking many more great interviews with Tariq, including great podcasts!
