‘Tis the season! That means it’s the time of the year to celebrate the news from the year across a roster of clients that made headlines for all the right reasons in 2017. In the PR business, it’s not time to go on holiday yet. Instead, it’s the jolly best time to send out year in review press releases and remind key media and target audiences how these organizations have grown, impacted their industries and set the stage for an amazing New Year in their respective industries.

Restoration 1 had a year full of aggressive and strategic growth in 2017. Acquiring bluefrog Plumbing + Drain was at the top of many exciting accomplishments. Adding this complimentary service brand to their existing network, BizCom looks forward to continue making headlines throughout the next year as both businesses strive towards sustained success and growth.
Burger 21 continued giving back in 2017. A true testament to the impact businesses can have in their communities, Burger 21 announced it surpassed $200,000 in donations to charities across the country through its “B Charitable” initiative.
Solera, a client with one of the World’s Coolest Offices, had a busy year. From acquisitions and product launches to helping after Hurricane Harvey and educating on Data Privacy Day, Solera’s founder, CEO and Chairman was on the move in 2017. You may have also recently seen him on the cover of the Dallas Business Journal!
Tariq Farid, founder and CEO of Edible Arrangements, offered business tips on MSNBC, shared How I Built This with Guy Raz on NPR, appeared on the Forbes Podcast, talked franchising with Cheddar, and more this year. BRIX Holdings had a healthy year of development across its franchise brands. Red Mango kicked off the year celebrating its 10th anniversary and the introduction of FroNo™ to its product offerings. Legendary Hall of Fame NBA player Hakeem Olajuwon opened a Red Mango in Mont Belvieu, TX and Red Mango debuted at The Star in Frisco, TX, the world headquarters and training center of the Dallas Cowboys. Meanwhile, RedBrick Pizza unveiled a new prototype for the brand in North Brunswick, NJ and an organic dough option for the restaurant’s fire-roasted gourmet Neopolitan pizzas. Finally, Smoothie Factory rolled out 12 all-natural fresh juices.
Gatti’s Pizza rolled out two new prototypes for the brand, opening a record number of corporate-owned locations. They also signed the first franchise in seven years for a new restaurant to open in Killeen, TX in 2018, marking the company’s return to franchising and kicking off a national development campaign with a goal to grow to 300 locations by 2022. This was capped off with delicious new product offerings from Take-and-Bake pizza to tasty chicken wings.
Gigi’s Cupcakes celebrated the opening of five new locations in 2017, with several grand openings featuring appearances by the founder, Gigi Butler. In addition, Gigi’s signed 11 agreements in 2017 with a goal of opening 17 new locations in 2018. Part of that expansion is westward with a location in Logan, Utah slated to open in the spring of 2018, marking the 24th state for the brand. Gigi’s will also continue expanding across Texas, with a new Austin location opening in 2018 owned by three former University of Texas Longhorns football players, including Brian Orakpo, who currently plays for the Tennessee Titans.
Dwyer Group, living up to its status as a Super Franchisor—a term that was recently bestowed by The Sunday Times of London- celebrated another record year of global growth. With two more acquisitions, Dwyer Group is now a holding company of 18 consumer service brands (16 of them franchised), with 2800 franchisees and $1.5 billion in system-wide sales across nine countries. This year also marked the launch of Neighborly, the Dwyer Group’s comprehensive services platform and the company also broke ground on a new building at its Waco campus that will house the growing staff to support the service brands.
