Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strong women of our society who are recognized as pioneers for female empowerment everywhere due to their achievements.
At BizCom, we are all too familiar with women who fit this description, as we’ve had the pleasure of working with so many of them! Here are just a few examples of the powerful ladies whose stories we’ve had the honor of sharing.

During her 2012 appearance on Undercover Boss, Neighborly Brand Ambassador Dina Dwyer-Owens saw firsthand what a dire need there was to make the home services industry more inclusive to women. From that point forward, she made it her mission to encourage more women to enter the trades, so she launched the “Women in the Trades” scholarship program through Neighborly. Since its launch, the program has awarded more than $54,500 in scholarship funds to 45 recipients to-date. These scholarships have made it financially possible for women to attend accredited trade schools of their choice. Through this program, Dina filled a void for so many women seeking a fulfilling career where they could make a difference.

As a female leader in the fitness industry, which is also traditionally male-dominated, 9Round co-founder and COO Heather Hudson is a strong advocate for how fitness can empower women, because she knows from personal experience how much it has empowered her. Before her 9Round journey began, Heather was a single mom looking to learn self-defense following a divorce. By finding martial arts and eventually kickboxing, she found that fitness gave her so much more than just toned arms and abs; it made her feel confident. As 9Round has grown, Heather has continued to be a vocal advocate for women working out and making fitness available to all, resulting in a 9Round membership base that is nearly 70 percent female today.
#GirlPower at every level
As an agency that specializes in franchise development PR, our work often gives us the opportunity to connect with the impressive female business owners that represent our clients around the world. There’s Cassandra Poland, the ComForCare franchisee who was recently appointed to the Pennsylvania Homecare Association (PHA) Public Policy Committee; Cheryl Torres, an Army veteran who is now the proud owner of multiple 9Round studios; and many, many more.
These are just a few examples of the incredible women we’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with at BizCom. The story of female empowerment is one we love to tell on behalf of our clients, and we look forward to continuing to do so in the future.
